Team GB Activity Trails Launch Events

Welcome to

Team GB

Family Activity Trails

The University of Hull is the official University partner of Team GB and we have worked with them to launch Family Activity Trails!

The newly launched trails have multiple signposts, each with its own Team GB activity. Once you find a signpost, use your phone to scan the QR code to unlock an activity. We are launching the trails, which will be available all year round, on the 24th and 25th of June. New activities will be added every week during the summer holiday – so make sure to keep using the trails after the event!

Meet two Olympic champions!

Mohamed Sbihi

Mohamed Sbihi is a three-time Olympic medallist in rowing, having won bronze medals at London 2012 and Tokyo 2020 as well as a gold at Rio 2016!

Moe was also front and centre at the Tokyo 2020 Opening Ceremony as one of the flagbearers, becoming Team GB’s first ever Muslim flag bearer.

His passion for sports also extends to football, running, and basketball and he loves to get out walking with his family as much as he can.

Kate French

Kate French won Modern Pentathlon gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games! After performing five events over two days (swimming, fencing, show jumping, pistol shooting and running), Kate crossed the finish line in the first place.

Kate shows great passion for physical activity, being in nature, and exploring.

“I firmly believe that by encouraging families to engage in walking and outdoor activities, we can foster a sense of unity, promote healthier lifestyles, and create lasting memories”

What are ‘activity trails’?

Activity trails are walking routes that will go around local outdoor nature spaces.

Along the route, you will find signposts which will include activities and fun facts. Use your smartphone to scan the QR code shown on every sign you find on your walk!

What will happen when I scan the QR codes?

Once you scan a QR code, you will be taken to a website where you will unlock a fun activity to try out on your walk!

That’s not all! An online badge linked to a different Olympic sport will pop up at each sign location! If you enjoy taking part in the activities, make sure you come back to collect different badges!

Want to see how far you’ve walked – you can also track those using the QR codes too!

What will happen at the event?

Join us at the start point to grab yourself a trail map to begin your adventure.

Before you head out to try the trail, join us for a warm-up at 11 am led by a Team GB Olympic athlete!

Once you’ve warmed up, you can head off to try out the trail for a walk led by the athlete.

Once you get back, look out for any drawing or exercise challenges and get a free Team GB face paint! There will also be Team GB prizes to win!

The parks are a great place to rest once you’ve completed the trail, so make sure to bring along food, drinks, and a picnic blanket!

The Team GB athlete will also be around throughout the day to demonstrate their sport and lead some exercise games (as well as to take photos with your family)!

I can’t attend the event, but I want to use the trails

This isn’t a one-off activity! The trails will stay up and running throughout the year, so you can have fun on every family walk! Just remember to bring along a phone and a sense of adventure!
