Who can throw the furthest using the best shot put technique?

Shot put

Did you know there are 4 throwing events in athletics?

Shotput javelin, hammer throw, and discus.

There are different ways you can throw the shotput, but we’ll explain a simple version.

Use anything you have on you to be the shot put – it could be a hat, gloves, or even a shoe! Next time you try the trails, bring along a bean bag or a ball to try this challenge again!

Let’s begin!

Step 1

  • Create a line where you will be throwing from.
  • Stand side-on to the line.
  • If you’re right-handed, stand with your left foot against the line, if you’re left-handed, stand with your right foot against the line.

Step 2

  • Hold your ‘shot put’ up near your ear and bend your knee to the side where you are holding the shot put.

Step 3

  • Spin your body away from the throwing line.

Step 4

  • Then, quickly spin back around and release the shot put with as much power as possible, making sure you don’t step over the line.

Check out the video to help you with the technique.
